WHY I CREATED S.E.T.A

Hello my name is Tyrone Gregory and I know what it means to be Self-Employed and have to pay taxes.

YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU DON'T KNOW.

Now there’s a proverbial antanaclasis (big word alert) that you don’t hear every day, but when it comes to your taxes – that statement is true. But how can you be expected to know? Who told you?

I know from first hand experience what that phrase means. I relied on ā€œtheyā€, ā€œthemā€ and the ā€œfamily friendā€ to tell me what I didn’t know. Well guess what… they didn’t know either.

What about a CPA, Tax Attorney or Tax Preparer you ask? If they are one of the good ones then maybe and here’s why I say maybe: On average they will spend about 45 – 60 minutes preparing your return. However, only approx. 15 -20 min of that is spent giving strategic planning and that’s simply not enough time. Over a span of ten years…yea… you’ll get all the advice you need, but do you have ten years to spare?

Ok, yes… I hear it coming. I can read your thoughts and you are thinking what about the softwares?

Yes, the softwares out there are great. Their algorithms and guidance systems are amazing, but there is still a lot of room for error.

As a trainer of tax preparers, when it came time to learn tax software I would always tell my students this: This software is only as good as the information that you put into it. And that statement is true for any software that you use for tax preparation. Yes, they will guide you as much as possible… but you still don’t know what you don’t know. (there’s that phrase again).

No worries, however, The Self-Employed Tax Academy is going to show you what you don’t know. Even as tax laws change you’ll get the updates. So you still know.

WHO IS THIS COURSE FOR EXACTLY?

The Self-Employed Tax Academy was created for the Sole Proprietors, Freelancers, Independent Contractors, D.I.Y’ers or for any self-employed individual who just needs to know.

If you are transitioning from being an ā€œemployeeā€ (ugh) to becoming self-employed (yay) or even if you recently just started… this course is for you. Not everyone can afford a CPA or a Tax Attorney to help get them on the right path.

And seeing that the tax code is over 17,560 pages long and reads like the Lorem Ipsum filler text that you find on websites… you know those paragraphs that look like this: Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing edit... I decided to go through the tax code and make it super simple to understand the section of the tax code that deals with small businesses.

So, on the other hand, if you have a ā€œCā€ or "S" Corp, a Partnership or you ā€œknow it allā€ already… then this course is not for you.

WHAT'S IN IT?

I wanted to keep this course short, sweet, and to the point without overwhelming you, but at the same time give some awesome content. Therefore, within this course, there are 3 modules in which you will learn everything you need to know to be smarter about taxes:

Module 1

  • The 4 base business structures, how they are taxed and the one I recommend you start as.
  • The 2 types of accounting methods the IRS suggest that small businesses use and the one you should use for your business.
  • How to obtain a Tax I.D. If you need one (did you notice that I said if).

Module 2

  • The types of income. Do you know them all?
  • Which expenses are deductible and when to deduct them.
  • Vehicle expenses - are getting them all?
  • Home Office expenses - you'll love this one!

Module 3

  • How to set up and pay Quarterly Estimated Taxes.
  • What to do when you are both a W2 employee and Self-employed. (the answer is simple)
  • Deducting expenses when you first start out and you didn't make a dime. (it happens... it happened to me)
  • Home Office expenses - you'll love this one!

Bonus Videos (Goodies)

  • How to hire your children… if you have any
  • Tax software reviews
  • A peek into S-corps

Not to mention all the free downloads of forms, templates and calculations.

THE CHOICE IS YOURS

On your own, you can read the complex 74,608-page-long (as of 2014) Federal Tax Code dealing with income, estate, gift, employment, and excise taxes, along with all the procedural and administrative provisions, rate tables and amendment notes, which would take you months to complete and comprehend or you can let me take just a few short hours to teach what you need to know.

However, in the spirit of being truthful, not all 74,608 pages pertain to business. Yet, to completely understand how everything all ties together, you still would need to read and understand a good majority of the Tax Code. On the other hand, like I said, you can always let me show you.

And if you have read this far… do yourself a favor – Sign up. Do it because you don’t want to miss anything, you want to save yourself some time and you want to file the perfect self-employed tax return.

Meet Your Instructor

I guess now would be a good time as any to introduce myself. Hello my name is Tyrone Gregory and I have been preparing small business taxes for a little over a decade now. No, I'm not a CPA, Tax Attorney, or an EA. I am, however, a IRS licensed, California Tax Education Council (CTEC) Certified, Tax Preparer.

I have two passions: People and Entrepreneurship; which lead to me being commonly known as the PeoplePreneur. I love showing people how to win at both business and at life. So how did I get here? Taxes is something I stumbled upon by happenstance (a battle with the IRS) and now it has become one of the greatest tools that I use to help beginning entrepreneurs.

I have but one goal - to offer my assistance to as many newbie entrepreneurs who are willing to receive it. My first mission: to help save entrepreneurs money.
